Programme to enhance competitiveness of agricultural entrepreneurs in Vavuniya district
As part of the Sustaining and Nurturing Rural Agro Industrial Social Enterprises Project (SUNRISE) initiated and funded by Oxfam the implementing partner Lanka Social Ventures launched the Programme on the 27th of April at the In-Service Training Institute, Gannoruwa. The aim of the programme was to enhance the competitiveness of Agriculture entrepreneurs in Vavuniya District. During the two day residential programme the participating entrepreneurs had the opportunity learn new skills and gain new knowledge required to run their businesses more profitably.
The SUNRISE project aims to nurture a viable group of women-led enterprises in agriculture and handloom value chains while creating an enabling environment for the SMEs. This project is implemented in Northern and Eastern Provinces that have high levels of economic and social disparities faced particularly by women.
The duration of this Programme is 3-6 months and during this programme participants will receive technical and business advice, product and process innovation support, finance and market access facilitation, and coaching and guidance for personal entrepreneurial skills development.
