Boot camp for handloom producers from Batticaloa

The programme was held on the 27th & 28th April 2017 at Gannoruwa Agriculture in Service Training Centre. The objective of the Boot-camp was to enhance the competitiveness of Agriculture entrepreneurs in Vavuniya District and to provide the technical and business advice, product and process innovation support, finance and market access facilitation, and coaching and guidance for personal entrepreneurial skills development. Fifteen participants from SMEs engaged in fruit and vegetable processing attended the workshop. On day one of the workshop participants were provided exposure on the following aspects the production, Market, technology and other issues faced by the agriculture sector SMEs, post-harvest Technology of Fruits and Vegetable, principles and practices of commercial farming, integrated Pest Management for Agriculture, ICT Strategies for Agriculture, marketing of fruits and vegetables and Trends, tips and guidelines for Agribusiness SMEs. This was followed by practical demonstrations at the Agro Technology Park as well as food processing center Gannoruwa . The workshop provided an opportunity for participating agriculture SMEs to their experiences and a networking opportunity.
